Zoë Francemone

I had never met Zoë before we shot together, just like most of my photoshoots go. But when we both got out of our cars, we shared an instant excitement to meet one another. And oh my gosh, she is such a sweetheart! A day before our shoot, I was driving near Destiny USA and noticed an access point to 81 North’s underpass. I have always been drawn to concrete and abandoned buildings- I love the way it resembles such coolness and emptiness, and how a person’s warmth will fill the void so well. I feel that, at least.

On the day of our session, we were blessed with such an out of the blue 60 degree day just two days before Thanksgiving and I just could NOT, not take advantage of it. We popped on some tunes and then BAM; we started to make some magic.

After collecting some grungy feels, I had made plans to head over to Onondaga lake right before the sun was to set. The light reflected off the water so softly and the sky was filled with cotton candy as the sun burn bright orange along the horizon.

Zoë made a quick outfit change and then we just kind of found a quiet spot right by the water. And… in the water she went. Now, if you are from Syracuse, NY then you already know that Onondaga lake isn’t exactly super clean. Okay, okay it actually once was a very polluted lake and over the course of maybe, 10 years, we have cleaned it up tremendously. According to scientists, it is now swimmable, lol. Either way, Zoë was so eager to jump in when I asked if she’d be comfortable with it. Not to mention, she handled it like the BOSS babe that she is.

We were entering the “blue hour” now, and it was getting darker by the minute, but I love the way these photos turned out. Dark and pure. And honestly, this was the first time I continued to shoot well past the sun going down. I guess I never saw the purpose since it would become so dark, but now I appreciate this small timeframe so, so much- realizing how much value it truly possessed. Needless to say, I cannot wait to create with this beautiful girl again!
